Transcription
Sept. 28, 1802 Elias Rector born, “The fine old Arkansas gentleman,” came to Arkansas in 1825, settled in Ft. Smith 1837, U.S. Marshall for 16 years, Supt. of Indian affairs, died Nov. 22, 1878.
Albert Pike’s “fine old Arkansas Gentleman."
Elias Rector was sent to Florida by U.S. to end the Seminole War.
