May 1, 1816 Governor Henry M. Rector born in Kentucky, U.S. Marshal, state senator, surveyor general, judge of Supreme Court, governor 1860-1862, resigned to enlist in Confederate army, Constitutional Convention of 1874, died 1899.

May 1, 1820 Phillips County created.
