Biographical/Historical Note
N.C. (Newsome C.) Reynolds was born in Mississippi in 1844. He came to Arkansas during the Civil War, serving in Kings Company, 2nd Regiment, Missouri-Arkansas division from 1861-1865, and was wounded at the Hatchie Bridge during the Battle of Corinth, Mississippi. Reynolds applied for an Arkansas Confederate Pension in August 1912. According to his physician's report, Reynolds could do little work as result of a crippled hand and foot. Reynolds, his wife Mary, and their children, John, Margaret, Ada, James, Ida, and Grace are listed in the 1880 census. They were living in Jefferson County, Arkansas, at the time of N.C. Reynolds' death, on August 4, 1919.
