Description

This collection contains two receipts from the Reconstruction era in Arkansas. One of the receipts is from the Cairo and Fulton Railroad company.

Biographical/Historical Note

The Cairo and Fulton Railroad connected Missouri to Arkansas and Texas in 1874, after being rebranded due to the Civil War and financial difficulties. This allowed for the development of Arkansas since this railroad connected to Missouri and from there, the eastern United States. Today, the Cairo and Fulton Railroad is the northbound main line of the Union Pacific Railway through Arkansas .J.H. Logan was married to Verna S. Logan and had a brother Herbert Logan, who lived in Texarkana, Texas.
