This collection contains the parole certificate of Confederate Private G.W. Ivey.

Biographical/Historical Note

George W. Ivey enlisted as a private in Company B, 3rd Arkansas Cavalry at Perryville, Perry County, Arkansas, on March 1, 1862. He served in that company until the end of the Civil War, when he was paroled May 6, 1865, at Charlotte, North Carolina. He returned to Perry County and married Lucretia Ivey on December 25, 1873, and raised six children with her. He died June 13, 1900.
