Biographical/Historical Note

William H. Holmes was commissioned as Second Lieutenant, Volunteer Mounted Company for State Services, Yell County, Arkansas, March 20, 1864. He was killed by a detachment from the Third Cavalry on an expedition from Lewisburg.
