Biographical/Historical Note

John D. Adams and William D. Blocher, of Adams and Blocher, bought the Arkansas Gazette on November 11, 1876. They owned it briefly, selling it May 14, 1878, after what is known as Arkansas's last duel between Joseph N. Smithee, owner of the Arkansas Democrat, and John D. Adams.
