This collection contains records from 1967 to 1993 of the El Dorado [AR] Spade and Trowel Garden Club. Materials include the Constitution of the Spade and Trowel Garden Club, membership lists, and monthly meeting notes that include descriptions of projects around El Dorado.
Biographical/Historical Note
The Spade and Trowel Garden Club of El Dorado, Arkansas, operated for over twenty-five years. Its co-ed membership included names from many notable families of the city. The object or mission statement of the club was the development of home gardens, to stimulate interest in cooperative gardening and planting, to aid in protection of wild flowers and shrubs, and to study all aspects the fine arts of gardening.
