Biographical/Historical Note
The Woodmen of the World is a fraternal benefit society that was founded on June 3, 1890 by Joseph Cullen Root, in Omaha, Nebraska. This organization split from their parental group, the Modern Woodmen of America, after Joseph Root was dismissed from the association. The Woodmen of the World focuses on providing life insurance, burials, and gravestones for all of its members. This organization had a number of 'camps' in Arkansas.
