Date Original
1921-1923
Description
This collection contains two letters; a brief outline of the AAA to the Press of Arkansas; and a resolution.
Biographical/Historical Note
Arkansas didn't have an official nickname for the first part of its statehood, but was given one in 1923 when the Arkansas Advancement Association suggested the "Wonder State" to improve Arkansas' reputation and economic prospects. However, it didn't change the image of Arkansas as backwards and was replaced with the "Land of Opportunity" in the 1940s.
