This collection contains lists of postmasters of each post office in Garland County, including their dates of service, from 1833 to 1971.
Biographical/Historical Note
Garland County was established April 5, 1873, and was formed out of Hot Spring, Montgomery, and Saline Counties. The county was named for August H. Garland, governor of Arkansas in 1874, United States Senator 1876-1885, and United States Attorney General under President Grover Cleveland in 1885. Hot Springs was established as the county seat when the county was formed.
