This collection holds twenty-three binders containing large computer printouts of biannual summaries of Arkansas State appropriations, expenditures, and balances between the years 1950 and 1979. They are arranged by the following categories: by funds - state and federal, by agency - state and federal, by classification of expenditures of agency - state and federal, by classification of expenditures of object of expenditure, and refunds of expenditures schedule.

Biographical/Historical Note

The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (ADFA) was created by Act 38 of 1971 allowing a substantial reorganization of sixty government agencies into just thirteen cabinet departments. The ADFA's mission, according to its website, is to carry out its statutory responsibilities in a service-oriented manner while maintaining a high degree of fiscal integrity and to strive to improve management of financial resources statewide by providing all activities of State government a fully adequate accounting and reporting system, reducing administrative paperwork and the time required to comply with the policies of the Department of Finance and Administration.
