Description
This collection contains one broadside, an appeal for financial assistance by the Ku Klux Klan (Texarkana) in response to a recently-published letter by CORE (Congress of Racial Equality).
Biographical/Historical Note
The Ku Klux Klan emerged in Arkansas in 1868 and was used to intimidate African Americans, as well as their white supporters. Governor Powell Clayton used the state militia to crack down on the Klan, but could not suppress its activities entirely.
