Description
This collection contains a letter from Water J. Lemke to Margaret Ross, concerning a tribute for Arkansas Land Commissioner Claude Rankin after his death in 1954. Ross was a writer for the Arkansas Democrat, an editor for the Arkansas Historical Quarterly, and worked as a research assistant at the Arkansas History Commission.
Biographical/Historical Note
Walter John Lemke was a born in Marathon County, Wisconsin, to Charles and Ulrick Lemke on January 6, 1891. He was a historian, who established the Arkansas Genealogical Society, and a journalist, who worked for the Journalism Department at the University of Arkansas.
