Biographical/Historical Note
Annie Agnes Wilson High School was an all-black high school established for black students in Malvern, Arkansas. High school courses for Malvern’s black students began in 1942 at the Malvern Colored School, which continued as the Malvern Colored High School until A.A. Wilson opened. Malvern Colored School continued as an elementary school, later named the Tuggle Elementary School. A.A. Wilson High School operated until it closed in 1968 when Malvern schools underwent school integration. Both schools were named after local, beloved teachers. Today alumni of both schools hold annual reunions and a restoration friends group has been established.
