This collection contains three newspaper titles from the 1930s and 1940s from the northeast Arkansas and Memphis (Tenn.) areas.
Biographical/Historical Note
This collection consists of three newspaper titles from the northeast Arkansas and Memphis, Tennessee, areas which were collected by John Fogleman of Marion (Crittenden County), Arkansas. The titles include the Marion High School News, published by Marion High School. This paper contains articles relating to school events and students. The collection also includes one issue of Memphis (Tenn.) newspaper, the Commercial Appeal, which has several articles and ads relating to northeast Arkansas. In addition, it contains one supplement to the West Memphis Accelerator and Earle Enterprise (souvenir edition) relating to the Harahan Viaduct. It contains information on its planning and construction, as well as articles related to the history of the area. The Harahan Viaduct is a bridge that spans the Mississippi River, connecting Memphis and West Memphis. It was built in 1916.
