Biographical/Historical Note
This collection contains two ledger books from the Pulaski County Treasurers office donated in October of 2014. The first ledger contains land redemption taxes paid to the county between the years 1893-1919. Land redemption is the process of repurchasing mortgaged property by the original vendor of said property from the purchaser. This land is gained by paying off taxes, debt owed, or other conditions. This ledger has the following information: date, redemption by whom, year delinquent, description of land, and amount. The second ledger contains tax warrants on the Little Rock school district between the years 1894-1909. Tax warrants institute the debt of a taxpayer and once filed with the county court, a lien is placed on the tax payers’ property. This ledger has the following information: taxes due, date, who paid, amount paid, and total.
