The collection contains correspondence, family histories, ledgers, publications, and materials relating to the numerous ancestral societies of which Lina Cherry was a member.

Biographical/Historical Note

Lina Vandergrift Denison Cherry was born December 1, 1872, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was the wife of the prominent businessman, Lewis Williamson Cherry, Sr., and the daughter of George W. Denison, both of Little Rock. Mrs. Cherry actively participated in local community, social, and church organizations. In tracing her ancestry, Lina Cherry compiled data for the publication of several books including "Ancestry of My Children" and "McDonnell and Allied Families." She died in Little Rock October 21, 1957, and is buried at Mt. Holly Cemetery.
