Biographical/Historical Note
The Civil War Centennial Commission was created in 1959 to promote and publicize the hundred-year anniversary of the American Civil War, organize events to observe historically-significant events of the Civil War in Arkansas, and aid local groups in placing historical markers to identify where such events occurred.
