This collection contains nine letters from John Patterson of 2nd Kansas Infantry Co., to his wife, Sarah, dated from September 1862-May 1865.

Biographical/Historical Note

John Patterson was a Union soldier with Company I, Kansas 2nd Regiment. The regiment traveled throughout southwestern Missouri, northwestern and central Arkansas, and Indian Territory during the Civil War. His unit mustered out August 17, 1865.
