This collection contains one pamphlet, "The Legend of Marked Tree," by H.J. Krier, Poinsett County, Arkansas, dated 1936.

Biographical/Historical Note

Marked Tree is a community on the Little River, named for a tree by the river into which a large "M" was carved. Who carved the "M" and why is unknown, but there are a number of competing theories and legends. This pamphlet is a 29-page dramatic interpretation of one of these legends, complete with stage directions and credited to H.J. Krier.
