This collection consists of articles of incorporation, White Cliffs Portland Cement and Chalk Company, Little River County, Arkansas, dated December 16, 1893.

Biographical/Historical Note

The White Cliffs Portland Cement and Chalk Company was a company in Little River County, Arkansas. According the articles of incorporation in this collection, the purpose of the corporation was to "manufacture and sale of Portland cement, chalk, lime, calsomine, whiting, brick, and artificial marble, and all other products made of chalk and clay." Annona chalk, a geologic formation located in the White Cliffs area of the Little River floodplain of Arkansas, as well as Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, is mined for cement.
