Description
This collection contains correspondence and obituaries.
Biographical/Historical Note
The correspondence in this collection is between Little Rock lawyer and former traffic consultant for the Arkansas Industrial development Commission, and Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus. Martin was born in Helena, received his law degree from the University of Arkansas Law School at Fayetteville, and owned the Martin Traffic Consulting Services for fifty years. The correspondence in 1959 between Martin and Governor Faubus reflects Martin's support for Faubus' stand against integration of the public schools in Little Rock. Martin would continue through the year to defend Faubus and the segregation movement on the grounds of states' rights.
