Augustus H. Garland (1832-1899) served as the eleventh governor of Arkansas (1874-1877), served as Confederate Senator from Arkansas during the Civil War (1864-1865, served as U.S. Senator from Arkansas (1877-1885) and served under President Grover Cleveland as U.S. Attorney General from 1885-1889.
