This collection contains a receipt for James M. Kuykendall, Sheriff of Lawrence County, Arkansas December 1, 1826.
Biographical/Historical Note
James M. Kuykendall(1781-1836) was born about 1781 in Kentucky. He settled in Lawrence County, Arkansas and served in the fourth Territorial Legislature. In 1826 he was elected sheriff of Lawrence County and was elected for six terms. Kuykendall died while in office on February 15, 1836.
