This collection contains a letter and a warrant for the Ex Confederate Association of Arkansas from August 1892.
Biographical/Historical Note
The Ex-Confederate Association of Arkansas was a group of philanthropic minded Civil War confederate veterans. When the group was incorporated in 1890 they declared in their charter " to relieve and assist, as far as practicable, all needy and worthy ex-Confederates soldiers, and to aid the worthy and needy widows and orphans of deceased Confederates." To this end the association established the Arkansas Confederate Home for Confederate veterans and their widows.
