This collection contains a copy of 1st Lieutenant George W.M. Reid's orders of relief from duty dated December 23, 1862.

Biographical/Historical Note

George W.M. Reid, born February 24, 1845, served as First Lieutenant of the 1st Arkansas Cavalry Volunteers, United States Army during the Civil War. He resigned and was relieved of duty on December23, 1862 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He died July 18, 1914 at Nichols Township in Conway County, Arkansas and is buried in the Reid Cemetery at Cleveland, Arkansas.
