This collection contains "Arkansas Post Investigations: Selective Translations of Archive General de Indias, Seville, Papels de Cuba," dated from April 27 1767 until August 1788.
Biographical/Historical Note
Arkansas Post was established in 1686 by the French. In 1763, after the Seven Years' War, the post passed to Spain. It finally was ceded to the United States in 1804, following the Louisiana Purchase.
