This ledger contains the accounts of Thomas Jefferson Edwards. The ledger includes his financial and estate records.
Biographical/Historical Note
Thomas Jefferson Edwards was born in 1827, in Hempstead County, Arkansas Territory. His parents, Meredith Walton and Martha Harpole Edwards, were early Arkansas pioneers. In 1849, Thomas J. Edwards married Emily Holman Kinsworthy. They left Arkansas and traveled to the gold fields of California, where their son William Burton Edwards was born. Emily died and Thomas returned to Arkansas in the early 1850s. He settled in Rondo, Arkansas, and went to work for Dr. Lewis Thomas Culley. Edwards later married Dr. Culley's daughter, Helen Mar Culley. In 1875, he was elected Miller County, Arkansas, treasurer and served one year. Thomas Jefferson Edwards died in Rondo, Arkansas, in 1877.
