This collection contains one county report on land sales of the 16th section of Pike County in 1902
Biographical/Historical Note
This report was produced in 1902 by C.A. Kizzia, Pike County Clerk, and sent to M.D. Chaney, Pike County Collector to record on the sale of 16th section lands. The 16th numbered section of each township in every township in Arkansas was set aside for the public schools. The site on the 16th section was either used to build the public school itself, or, more often, the land of the 16th section was sold to private individuals and the money was used to finance the public school system.
