This collection contains letters written by Welch Horner Greene to his wife, Elzie Greene, during World War II. Also included are letters from local residents of Naples, Italy, to Captain Greene and the "Command Allied," as well as Captain Greene's funeral notice from Mountainburg, Arkansas, in 1972.

Biographical/Historical Note

Welch Horner Greene served in World War II as a member of the military police stationed in Naples, Italy. During 1944, he spent time in a military hospital in Naples. He died in Mountainburg, Arkansas, on October 23, 1972.
