This collection contains typed transcripts of correspondence from 1861-1864.

Biographical/Historical Note

David Carlton Williams was born in New Orleans on March 27, 1815. He moved to Van Buren, Arkansas, in 1845 and went into the mercantile business. After the Civil War, Williams also ran an exchange house since Van Buren did not have a bank until 1882 and served as the Secretary for the Van Buren Female Academy.
