This collection contains copies of news clippings of S.C. Turnbo's stories about northwestern Arkansas and southwestern Missouri.

Biographical/Historical Note

Silas Claiborne Turnbo (1844-1925) was an avid writer and historian. He lived most of his life at Pontiac, Ozark County, Missouri, and on the White River in Marion County, Arkansas. He spent much of his time visiting with old residents of northern Arkansas and southern Missouri, and writing down their stories. He authored many articles that appeared in newspapers throughout both states between 1898 and 1907. He also wrote two books based on those stories.
