Description
This collection contains two letters written by James Pomeroy to Brigadier General Jacob Carnahan, commanding the 3rd Military District of Arkansas.
Biographical/Historical Note
James M. Pomeroy was an adjutant general in Arkansas during Reconstruction. He wrote these letters to Jacob Carnahan, a brigadier general in command of Arkansas's third military district. Pomeroy requested returns from the militia in Carnahan's district be sent immediately, and also sent Carnahan a list of officers from the district. Carnahan had only recently assumed command.
