Description
This document contains meeting minutes for the Methodist Episcopal Church's Ladies' Aid Society.
Biographical/Historical Note
The Methodist Episcopal Church in Portia, Lawrence County, was an active congregation in the early 20th century. Several of the members met together as the Ladies' Aid Society. They had weekly devotionals and raised funds to help cover the costs of church maintenance and events.

Feb 1 1923
Six members ans[sic] roll call at Mrs Madison's
read for Scripture lesson 18th chapter of Luke, repeated
Lord's prayer. After which we planned to pound
the pastor. The Pounding was taken over to Black
Rock by some of the Ladies. Feb 3rd with no
further business to come before the Society
the members were treated to delicious apples
after a very pleasant repass we adjourned
to meet with Mrs Robinson

Feb 8th 1923 no aid
Feb 15 no aid
Feb 25th 1923 The Ladies Aid met at the
home of Miss Vix Scott with eight members
present. Read for scripture lesson 17th chapter
of Luke, repeated lord's prayer. Collected dues The ladies planned
to sell sandwiches the following Saturday
night but wasn't very successful as it
was a bad rainy night. The ladies
adjourned to meet with Mrs Allen.
