Biographical/Historical Note

The women's suffrage movement in Arkansas began fairly early with the formation of women's suffrage clubs after the Civil War. The earliest suffrage law to be proposed in Arkansas was in 1868. In 1917, Arkansas passed a bill allowing women to vote in primary elections.
