This is a selection of pages from the first of 25 Home Demonstration Club scrapbooks. It covers the first statewide camp the club held. It was held at Camp Pike in North Little Rock and lasted for three days. The women participated in activities such as dress-making contests and craft exhibits while at the camp. The Home Demonstration Clubs began in Arkansas in 1912 to teach farm women better ways to go about their daily tasks of home management and are still one the largest volunteer groups in the state today. I picked this scrapbook because of fond memories I have of attending local club meetings in the summers with my mother and grandmother. - Elizabeth Freeman
