This is a black and white photograph of the fourth grade class of Morrilton Public School in Conway County, taken in 1900, in front of the school building.

Biographical/Historical Note

Morillton is the county seat for Conway County, Arkansas. Its first public school for white students opened in 1881, while its first school for African American students opened fourteen years later in 1895.
