This is a contract for first-grade teacher Jewel Verkler to teach for six months in Lynn, Arkansas.

Biographical/Historical Note

The most interesting part of this teacher's contract is the portion speaking about the school funds. Evidently, a local bank was having solvency issues which put the school funds at possible risk. Jewel Verkler, who was being hired at $90 per three months for a total of six months to teach first grade in Lynn, would have wanted assurances that the salary could be paid.
