Description

This is a color postcard with an image of a lake with a Cliffside in the background and two white buildings on the front.

Biographical/Historical Note

Monte Ne was a resort town in founded in 1900 by William H. Harvey. It was the site of the first indoor swimming pool in Arkansas, and was also the site of the only presidential convention ever held in Arkansas. By 1927, much of the resort had been foreclosed due to declining interest and lack of funds due to construction costs. Most of the remains of the resort were covered by water with the construction of Beaver Dam. All that remains today are foundations and one severely vandalized structure.
