March 20th 1861
Sir.
On the 16th day of March 1861,
an election was held in Mine Creek
Town ship 2nd Battallion 8th Reg. for the
purpose of electing officers for a volunteer
company called the Nashville Blues, which
resulted as follows-For Capt. Sims McGown
1st Lieut T. Niel 2nd Lieut M.A. Winn and
John W. Smith 3rd. I certify that this is a
true return as made to me
