Description

This True Democrat extra details the situation in the aftermath of a battle near Springfield, Missouri. It lists the dead on both the Union and Confederate sides, and names the officers who participated in the battle.

Biographical/Historical Note

During the Civil War, newspapers were many peoples primary source's for updates on the battle front. While family, and friends would also receive letters from soldiers, these papers helped them form a broader picture of the state of the war. The papers would also address the locations and conditions of prominent individuals in specific battles.
