He was a Major in the War of 1812; moved from Tennessee to Arkansas Post in 1817; Clerk of the first Territorial Legislature; designer of the Great Seal of Arkansas; president of the first State Senate; first Acting Governor of Arkansas; he was buried in Little Rock and had many descendants.
