Biographical/Historical Note

This collection contains an unknown Confederate soldier's diary from May 5, 1865 through May 27, 1865. The diary describes troop movement and locations in South Carolina, Alabama, and Georgia. The author writes about the capture of Confederate President Jefferson Davis and how he and his fellow troops were handling the disappointment. He also details the destruction, caused by the war, of the areas his company passed through.
