Biographical/Historical Note

Hendrix Mercantile, originally known as Meeks Mercantile, was established in 1889, in Antoine, Pike County, Arkansas, by O.O. Meeks. Meeks owned the business until his death on December 22, 1935. His son, Harvey Meeks, operated the store until 1946, when he sold it to Buford Hendrix. Hendrix died July 5, 2006, and descendants continued to run the business.
