Description
This collection contains one photocopy of a letter from F.R. Horn of Quitman, Mississippi to his wife, M.E. Horn, dated June 6, 1863, as well as correspondence regarding the letter from October 1973.
Biographical/Historical Note
This collection was formed out of correspondence between B.B. Lewis, a resident of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and John Ferguson, Arkansas State Historian in 1973. Correspondence indicates that Ferguson had helped Lewis find his grandfather's Civil War service records, but that Lewis was now searching for his grandmother's first husband, one F.R. Horn. Lewis sent Ferguson a copy of Horn's last letter, sent from Quitman, MS, 1863, which Ferguson then requested to keep a copy of.
