This collection consists of one appointment of A.A. Tufts as Aide-de-camp for the Grand Army of the Republic, dated January 24, 1908.

Biographical/Historical Note

The Grand Army of the Republic was a fraternal organization composed of veterans of the Union Army, Union Navy, Marines, and the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service who served in the Civil War. It was founded in 1866 in Springfield, Illinois, and was dissolved in 1956 after the death of its last member.
