This collection contains one photocopy of a letter from Rev. J.B. Searcy to his nephew James B. Searcy, dated 1909.

Biographical/Historical Note

Reverend James Bryant Searcy was born in June 1838, in Eufaula, Barbour County, Alabama. Searcy was a Baptist minister and was married to Margaret Francis Owen Searcy. He died on September 4, 1920. James B. Searcy, Jr., whom Searcy, Sr., writes to in the letter in this collection, was his nephew. He was born in October of 1883 in Arkansas. Searcy, Jr., was a school teacher and a bookkeeper in a general store. He was married to Velmia Hawk on December 30, 1914 in Bradley County, Arkansas.
